Blue Star Creeper News 9/17/04
I'd like to welcome cello player Matteus Vaga to Blue Star Creeper.
Coincidentally Matteus lives about ten blocks from me, how convenient.
He's a very talented player who recently played in projects called
Dermis and Flames of Hell. He tells me he was born in Finland, lived in
Vancouver B.C., the East Coast, and studied music at Temple University.
We are playing as a duo right now. I hope to include Andrew Linnemann
on drums and Sally Rose on vocals, acoustic guitar and violin for
future shows. I'm also exploring some bass player possibilities as
former bassist Stephen Palmer picked up his life and is fulfilling his
ambition of being a beach bum on Tybee Island, off the coast from
Savannah, Georgia! That my friends, is a man with vision.
My tenure in Coriander has reached it's conclusion. Scott Gallagher
brought in a new drummer, Joe Couden and shifted Chris Olson over to
keyboards. Pretty soon my second guitar position became obsolete.
Simultaneously I met Matteus, so I'm getting back on track with Blue
Star Creeper now. It was fun while it lasted but I really need to focus
on my own band. Funny how things work out, one door closes and another
instantly opens. It looks like I'll be helping produce the forthcoming
Coriander album slated to begin in October with Jack Endino. I look
forward to soaking up Jack's atmosphere.
I've started tearing into the basement of the new house. The dropped
ceilings and fluorescent lights are history. The wet bar has been torn
out and donated to Re-Store--sorry White Knuckle Ride, I know you guys
dug that bar! The basement is functioning as a dual yoga studio /
music studio and the cheezey bar didn't quite fit the vibe. I hope to
be pretty close to done before the new baby arrives in December.
I'm getting psyched to start playing out as a band with regular
frequency again. I'll do a proper release of the last Blue Star Creeper
album recorded with Steve Coy, I promise! Right now I am doing
pre-production on the next project, it's a multi media concept album
revolving around the arc of our annual journey to La Push. It will
include atmospheric field recordings, songs, and accompanying visuals.
It'll be like, a show man, and you are all going to be in it!
Recent recording sessions at Cleopatra Park Studios have included
Fleece Bikini, The Campaign, Will Morgan, and a session by Drew
Holloway's new band called The Waiting Room, which may very well be the
best thing I've produced to date. Most of that has to do with Drew and
his songs, I listen to that session all the time.
Feel free to post any comments about the band, our music or anything
else in our guest book, it's pretty sparse right now. Look for me on
cable access on the Small Stage, it turned out really well. Stay tuned
for more shows and news!
As always, Peace!
Kelly
