GreenTreks began in 1993 as GreenWorks, a Pennsylvania-based nonprofit organization with the mission of spreading a simple message: real people are making a difference to protect our planet - and you can, too!
As GreenWorks programs became the inspiration for thousands of Pennsylvanians, interest in their methods and messages grew outside of the state. Thanks to the success of GreenWorks, GreenTreks is now working to share stories from across the nation and other parts of the world.
From 2000-2003, episodes of The GreenWorks Channel and Greenworks for Pennsylvania aired each week in Seattle on Channel 77. Reruns of the program frequently aired as part of the Channel 77 Random Playback Library as well.
